Dirty

I write explicit sex (in case anyone failed to notice). No, really I write filthy, explicit sex. In fact, I have written and been paid to write everything from literary erotica to PORN. That's right, PORN.

When I write sex -- I use adult words. I've never referred to the penis in a manner that makes it sound more like a weapon than a sex organ. It's a cock. It's a dick. Sometimes it's an erection. It's rarely a shaft. It's NEVER a sword or a tool or a missile or even "the evidence of his desire". It's a COCK. No really, it's a COCK.

My favorite words: fuck, pussy, cunt, clit, asshole, cock, and dick. I use these words a lot in just about anyway I can as often as I can in practically everything I write. If there is sex in a story I will make every effort to use the filthiest language possible. This is my solemn promise to you as a writer.

When I first started publishing fan fiction online, I actually worried about the sex in my stories being too explicit for fanfiction.net which is why I ended up with my own website and why I stopped posting at ff.net. I knew I was really too dirty to be on their site and that my stories could be deleted at any time for TOS violation if someone reported me as having posted what was for all intents and purposes PORN.

My email is a constant source of bemusement, ire, and entertainment. The contents of any given email will often make me laugh so hard I hurt myself, clap my hands in delight, or mutter and curse under my breath while I fume a little at the abusive behavior of whatever troll has found their way into my in box.

Today I got this one sentence email and it was GOLDEN. LMFAO.

It said:

"I wish your stories weren't so dirty."

(You guys can't see me obviously but I want you to know that I'm smirking right now).

Seriously?

I will admit, I usually concentrate more on your plot and characters - but for pete's sake, you make het sex hot.

This person either has a stunted sexuality or overdeveloped plot lust.

Keira

[livejournal.com profile] justalurkr said it perfectly!

Keira, your world building is outstanding and the behavior of your characters always fit the world they inhabit. However they're having sex, it's always right for that person and that place and time. Your characters talk, but not endlessly. Your characters have sex, but not meaninglessly. Life moves on in your stories and I can't wait to see what comes next.

Thanks for continuing to write for John and Rodney and the multiple stories you have for them. I've read and enjoyed your other fandom stories, because, hey it's Keira writing, it's going to be good!

I don't care how dirty my porn is, but I will admit poor word choice will kill my ability to read a sex scene. I think in some ways this is why I avoid het fic, one too many occurances of the word 'cunny' and then there was the ever laughed over 'meat curtains'.

Interesting. The same person once read the Bible and texted her friends, "I wish it didn't have so much religious stuff in it."

**Snickers**

I have to tell you that when I read your favorite words list, I had that George Carlin clip from youtube pop into my head.

are you sure they weren't being sarcastic?? Easy to say something like that and forget to put the emoticon at the end. no? sure? screw 'em then. no one made 'em read it. *happy smile of a non-malicious nature*

I love your writing, especially when it's dirty because you write sex as intimate and plot-driven, and that is just hot.

I really hope you eventually write some of Tangled Destines' Jim and Spock married life. They will be due some incredibly filthy hot, dirty sex. :D

Maybe the emailer is wants more shower sex? Nah.

The rest of us would like shower sex. Everybody would be so relaxed and shiny clean.

Dirty... dirty.. girl

snicker

From the very first story of yours that I read, I thoroughly enjoyed your frank language. The plot lines are always thought provoking, the dialogue stimulating, and the sex is surprisingly satisfying. I say surprising because very rarely can I let myself "let go", as it were, and simply read and enjoy, without mentally dodging the word usage that most women fall into.

That might seem like a backhanded compliment, but it isn't really. I risk critisizing other writers, but I'm afraid that can't be helped. I've abandoned otherwise fairly good works, because I can't get over the writer's use of words. For me, you're a "safe" author, and I can't express my appreciation enough.

On behalf of all your lurking male readers: "Thank You."

P.S. I'm extremely fond of cock too.

More porn for the win!

Three cheers for PORN!

*waves my pom poms in an excess of geriatric fangirl enthusiasm*

You know I love you for your smut.

*makes grabby hands for more*

Ya know, years ago my brother-in-law worked for Ben & Jerry's...back in the early days. Apparently when they made Chunky Monkey, the entire production line would chant "More chunks! More chunks!".

I think your porn should be welcomed in much the same manner. I'm always standing off on the sidelines, leaving comments and feeling like I should be chanting "More smut! More smut!" in celebration. Because you write fabulous smut and the best dialog in the business.

You're just awesome that way.

*fangirling*

I am grinning really hard right now.
Thank god for you, woman, and for all teh "Dirt" in you stories! You are great and your writing is wonderful!
So there!

I'm glad they aren't. There really are no other comments to this!

When I was in college, my friends and I used to read those "red cover" Harlequin books out loud to each other. To this day, whispering the line: "His throbbing purple member..." can crack any one of us up.

"Cock is sexy but unfortunately there are times when the man attached to it is a complete dick and it ruins the whole thing for me."

I am so going to use that somewhere! I started out reading bodice rippers. The scenes became comical after awhile. One time for kicks my BFF and I decided to write a regency novel. We got as far as writing a sex scene, complete with flaming manhood and heaving bosoms. The we laughed our asses off and never did anything else with it.

I drop the F-bomb a lot. It used to be that I was uncomfortable saying it, but hey, I'm at the age where I say pretty much whatever comes out of my mouth. One of your stories had Rodney saying that guys just want to get off and women are too emotional during sex. That's so very true. Occasionally I'll read something full of euphemisms, but what I like about slash is the complete honesty when it comes to sex. I don't use the word cunt unless I am seriously pissed about someone. That's just me.

I've never been prudish when it came to sex with my kids. I did teach them the anatomically correct words, but it's much more fun to say tits or ta-tas, dick and balls. You have to be comfortable with your sexuality. That's never been a problem for me. I spent time with my son yesterday, and he was telling me his GF's back was hurting. I asked him if she pulled a muscle and without a second thought he told me it was probably from him having her bending over so much. I'm laughing and thinking maybe my kids are a little too open with me! Although he swore me to secrecy - if his GF ever found out what he said to me, she'd bend him over and shove her foot up his ass.

People would probably be shocked at the conversations I have with my son. His GF was when she first met me. I don't want all the details of his sex life, but I can tease him about shit and he doesn't get offended or embarrassed. He gives as good as he gets, and never stops reminding me that he's getting some and I'm not.

years ago I was involved with a lively online discussion that went on for weeks as we rooted through fanfic and dug up bigger and better euphemisms; "Purple Spitting Snake" was the winner, although my thoughts at the time were that it could be bright green and spit all it wanted as long as it didn't talk and stayed the hell out of rush hour traffic.

... I still do have the odd fond memory of the TS community.

So you write 'dirty'.

And aren't I glad.

Seriously, wtf?
I just...what?

Actually, I have you to thank for the fact that the last three romance novels I tried to read bored me to tears. Perhaps it's that I'm tired of that author but god, reading the sex in those made me bored out of my mind! Actually, it might have been a combination of the really shitty plot and the boring sex scenes.

Then I opened up one of your stories and clapped for joy. "Oh thank God! Porn! And a plot! yay!"

But going back to that email...Seriously, wtf?!

[identity profile] ravynowl.livejournal.com 2011-03-19 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I once read a fic (and only once because now I can't remember where it was) where the author was trying to use every weapon euphemism she could think of. It was HILARIOUS. Seriously, on the floor 'cuz I fell out of the chair hilarious. She called it badfic, but I disagree.

Personally, I've always thought that the mood you're trying to create determined whether it was a cock or a shaft. But, please, unless you're writing Sex Ed, don't use the technical terms, please!

[identity profile] tamstercmt.livejournal.com 2011-03-19 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the phrase "he inserted his erect penis into her vagina" is so ho-hum. Anyone can do that. Keira has the right of it. Put a little (or big) cock into the banging scenes.

[identity profile] svrldsmntls.livejournal.com 2011-03-19 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
u wanna know my honest opinion? I think if none of those words are included in a story its not worth reading simple as that because using words like that is what keeps someone interested now that person that sent u that email may have written that but i know on the inside they loved every second of what they read and its what makes u such a brilltiant writer to make someone feel something even when they dont want to ;)

You Go Girl!

[identity profile] abductee00.livejournal.com 2011-03-19 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Please, your "dirty" writing is why I enjoy reading your stories so much! Makes the stories more realistic. More power to you. Just the characters, the character interactions, and the detailed & elaborate universes that you create with your storytelling is more than enough to keep me a Keira fan. The "dirty" parts are icing on the cake. Butter-cream frosting...mmmm :p I'm so tired of reading stories that pussyfoot around the sex, or sugarcoat it so much my teeth ache. Keep up the great work!

...and I'd like to add...Sex is dirty and/or filthy (in a great way), and if it isn't, then somebody is doing it wrong *smirk*

[identity profile] snowflakespeech.livejournal.com 2011-03-20 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
You go girl. Frankly, it's as you've said elsewhere on your site (and I'm sure on your LJ) You've *paid* for your space to post what you want. If they want to bitch, they can go buy their own. Honestly, I love your writing. If I didn't, I'd stop reading.

[identity profile] slashaddict13.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think your stories are just as dirty as they need to be. I don't enjoy reading stuff where the filth goes on and on without a point -- yours do not. Thank you so much for writing these wonderful universes that just suck me in and won't let me go!
