All Night Long

I was up all night last night much to Chris King's horror. She nagged me for a while about napping and eating but she means well so I didn't give her any cyberbirdies or anything as a result.

Since I was up all night I did finish THE CATALYST which is the next part in the The Sentinels of Atlantis series and it's been through one beta already and is now in the hands of ****** (name withheld to protect the not-so innocent) for the final beta.

The first book in the Lantean Legacy Series which I'm calling NO ENEMY WITHIN just went over 60k in my final re-write and we're almost ready for beta. Fortunately both Chris and Ladyholder have actually been working with all along on that series so the final beta process shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I'm confident that I'll be ready to start posting the book sometime this month.

I haven't said much about the Lantean Legacy series in public so I thought I'd talk about it a little here.

1. It's a sentient Atlantis story but I think I've approached it from an angle no one else has used in the past.
2. It's McShep but the romance isn't the main focus of the story
3. It's basically a "cut-off" from Earth story

In the first book, the expedition comes to terms with the fact that the people on Earth aren't going to actively support their mission and they are offered an unthinkable gift by Atlantis. This "legacy" changes everyone within the expedition and makes a future where they might be able to return to Earth impossible.

I had a lot of fun writing this and the first draft of the second book is complete. I have a few new OCs and of course John's family which I can't seem to get out of my head will eventually make an appearance. I would say, however, that the star of this piece is Atlantis herself. I really look forward to sharing this with my readers.

Keira

*Joins you on the hunt and camping, ignoring everything around me but the computer* *leans over and whispers* Is it posted yet?

Not yet. The ants from the yard tried to eat her Muse, so she's getting bloody revenge.

We believe you. Which is why we're waiting for Matt and the others in the 302 squad to do some target practice.

Of course, the ants might be sentient....*calls for Daniel*

ROFL.

Please! I'm only half awake and I nearly spit tea all over my nice clean monitor!

*giggling*

*Runs out to buy more ant poison and quickly spreads it all over her yard, before coming back in panting* They're all dead now. *said with a smug grin*

Oooh! You have quite peaked my interest with those little tidbits! Just one more good thing to anticipate!!

And who needs sleep anyway?? Sometimes staying up just makes so much more sense.

[identity profile] djaddict.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh! Need some more flailing? I mean help?

[identity profile] djaddict.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Anytime.

[identity profile] djaddict.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, you mean that in a good way, right? lol

[identity profile] djaddict.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good! ;)

[identity profile] djaddict.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I was just kidding you with that question!

Wow! I'm so glad to read you've already finished the next part of your Sentinels of Atlantis verse as I just spent my week end reading some of your fics once again. I finished SoA this afternoon and I'm currently reading the last part of Tangled Destinies. What can I say, I'm in vacation until wednesday (our national day here in France and the office is closed until then.).
I just love all of your stories. Thanks again for being such a prolific and wonderful author.

[identity profile] cleito.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
of course John's family which I can't seem to get out of my head

Which is as it should be. John's family exists in all realities. Even your Star Trek series (in my mind, they're out there somewhere).

I am definitely looking forward to them.

Lantean Legacy Series: I always find the few stories that have Atlantis as one of the central characters/AI a very great interesting read. But I'm especially looking forward to this, with the gift she is offering to the SGA people and the decision they make and how it will affect them.

And of course I love John's family and your OCs so that is clearly a great big bonus to me!

[identity profile] chrystlfox.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You made my day! (which, trust me, really needed help)

Both of these brighten my day considerably. I'm looking forward to the update, as always, and now very curious about the new story!

Though the overprotective part of me has to say please do take care of yourself. I hope you can get some sleep today.

This sounds extremely interesting. But what can I say, I haven't read anything of yours yet that I haven't enjoyed.

[identity profile] neqs.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds so incredibly awesome. I love sentient!Atlantis fics, I love cut-off-from-Earth fics, and I can't wait to see your unique twist on them. Your stories are incredibly original, even though their ideas seem in a way obvious, as in "what do you mean this isn't canon? this is how it should be. how did the world turn before this was written?"

Er, sorry for the gushing and rambling. It's almost 3am and I'm bushed, but I wanted to express my utter glee at hearing what's coming. :)

*squees* If you weren't married already I would ask you myself! And if you were a man I would offer to have your babies! Sadly, I can't do either, so I'll just worship you from afar! :P

I currently have no job, no uni work and nothing urgent to do so for once I will actually get to sit down a savor the next part first time round.

*joins the camp out going on... looks at the bookmark to the SoA page... goes back to concentrating on sending ant killing vibes...* "self. will . breaking . must. wait . for . new. part. *lunges at computer and starts reading from the start again*

Me? Nag?

Well, until we come up with that TARDIS for ya, it's enlightened self-interest to ensure that you're warm and fed and content. We should all thank Mr. Marcos for providing you with comic relief.

I'm still useless after reading The Catalyst. I swear, that scene has burned itself into my memory. (You know the one I mean. Damn! I'm still fanning myself.)

*fangirling wildly for both tales*

Have we told you recently that you're totally awesome?!

Alerts. Ears up, tail wagging at high speed, puppy eyes at the ready. Are they here yet?

As for the ants, ground cloves messes with their sense of smell and you can disrupt their trails if they get in your house and if the poison you set out doesn't work for some reason try two tablespoons of MuleTeam (boric acid)and a half cup of sugar. Seal it into a cardboard carton (mark as poison) and use a pencil to poke a hole in the side large enough for the ants to get in and out. Put it near their nest and wait. They will carry the mixture back to the queen and kill her poof no more ants. And please remind your husband that most insectides are nerve toxins and wearing flipflops while adding water to poison on the ground could make him one sick puppy. I like him, he seems to take good care of you and I'd rather he not get sick.

[identity profile] syble4.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I know it's bad of me to laugh at the though of your husband doing his ant killing dance, but seriously he wore flip floops? LOL

As much as I agree with Chris, you really should sleep some time, I'm excited and happy it spurred a writing night.

RL has been in the toilet and I look forward to your wonderful distractions. :)

Yay! I'm so excited. Waiting for your stuff to come out is more exciting than waiting for the published series I follow to come out with new books. Plus, you update more often! Yay!

*gets ready for story time* I am SO THERE!

I had to read this twice I couldn't believe it! How are you so brilliant AND prolific??

I am looking forward to this so much!

[identity profile] rsharpe.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! Can't wait for this. Sounds really interesting. I love your fics with John's family!

thank you!

seeing catalyst this morning got me off to a great start and seeing details for "legacy" just rocks.
