The bone itself is a very small bone at the back of my foot near the ankle bone which connects to my pinky toe. It'll be healed "enough" for government work by the end of summer but it'll be a two years before the bone is completely solidified and my slow healing is diabetes related. I have a "bone growth stimulator" that cost my insurance company about 6k which I'll probably use weekly for the next six months or so.
My doctor is big on over estimations though it did take my previous broken bone 21 months to completely solidify and that was with taking extra calcium supplements and a bone stimulator. Surgery is an option but the break is so small that putting in a pin might end up being more risky than necessary. I mean, every time I have an open wound I risk serious infection so I'm not keen on being cut open for a small bone break that will eventually heal on its own.
As for my diabetes -- it is as controlled as I can manage without giving up and going on insulin shots.
