One of the problems I encounter in fandom that I would never encounter in my original work is dealing with the bad behavior of actors and actresses and how that impacts my feelings for the characters they play/played. I can’t even watch the show Andromeda because of Kevin Sorbo. I’m really glad I was never a Hercules fan. It’s a frustrating situation for a variety of reasons, especially you’ve invested personally in a character only have to them written off a show because of the actor’s behavior.

I think it’s time for Hollywood to reframe the situation and to do something that was easily done in the past—stop permanently attaching an actor to a character. Don’t be afraid to recast a role in a series. They need to get their head around the idea that the character is more important than the actor or actress that played them. Criminal Minds needed Aaron Hotchner, they should’ve recast the role without a second hesitation. Then in the first episode the new actor appeared in they could’ve put up a blank screen with these words: The character of Aaron Hotchner is now being played by Richard Armitage. (Fantasy casting FTW)

There are a lot of Mandalorian fans out there who saw today coming because Gina Carano has said and done some things on social media in the last six months that were disheartening and terrible. She’s been fired from the show and we’ll probably lose the character of Cara Dune which is just horrible for those of us who really liked her character for the strength and interest she brought to the show.

I’m so fucking disappointed. And honestly, Gina Carano -- this is not the goddamned way!
