I must be getting old because he looks sooo young to me, much younger than RDA when he played the role. But he has the snark and the smarts, so I will watch and hope.
TRUE STORY from when RDA played MacGyver that you may laugh at and thus will hopefully decrease your anxiety:
RDA is utterly hopeless with tools, fixing things, and what not, the complete opposite of the MacGyver character. He was driven home by the studio chauffeur after a long day's shoot and after the car took off, RDA realized he'd left his house key back at the studio. Growling in that snarky RDA way he has, he picked up the wooden bench on his front porch and threw it through his own front window, gaining entry into his home that way.
The next day when RDA got home, he found the bench on his front porch had been painted to look like a Swiss Army knife: it was a Swiss Army bench! His friends had gotten together and painted it for him because they figured that, like a real Swiss Army knife, the bench had proven to be multi-purpose.
