Well, after five months I finally managed to get Discord to work on my desktop... joined the channels... and am likely to now go into professional lurk mode as I have no idea how anything works there!
I feel you on the search for a 'home'. I don't really do social media (not in the way most people do). The Discord server has been great for the podcasts, help with ideas, working out problems, and just general support.
And Alexa is great for some things but anything I ask it for information it's always telling me it can't provide that information. :/
Crossroads is the best. Honestly, I never go into any other fannish spaces anymore except the actual archives. I was tired of having my favorite tropes and stories made fun of (and implicitly, those who read them) and being recced stuff that was not to my taste (or my requests) at all. Not to mention some of the spaces were overrun with people much younger than I due to the fandom and I just didn't *get* a lot of their language and culture and ways of doing things. I don't mind feeling like an old fogey, but I wasn't really getting anything out of hanging around either.
But Crossroads is full of people behaving well (or at least misbehaving in ways I find entertaining and not offensive), organized in a way I understand, and just a great experience. I check all the channels I'm subscribed to every day, scrolling up to the last one I saw and reading everything. I'm so happy you created it.
