That's More Like It
Jun. 16th, 2011 03:53 pmEntered the coffee shop today and it felt just perfect. I ordered a latte and got settled and when the owner walked by I asked him what was different. He laughed and said -- "The bakery next door opened and started making apple pies again."
Word.
I set aside my coffee, went over there and bought a pie for us. Because if they are the reason things smell and feel right around here--then I should support them by making the sacrifice of buying an apple pie. I know the cafe buys a lot of their pies/cakes from them as well but I feel like I did my part.
The pie is AWESOME. Humming Man ate 2 pieces before I cut him off as punishment for continuing to fucking HUM.
Cute Lesbian Girl brought her Fasionably Liberal Emo-Girlfriend to the cafe today so I don't expect she'll get any work done but I did go over 2 chapters of her book with her.
I got roped/bribed/berated into hosting the next writer's event at the cafe.
Sigh.

Okay, next life? I'm having a full time resident IT gnome to keep my world up and running, 'cause I surely haven't a clue.
Pie! Sounds yummy, and I'm glad your favourite writing space feels (and smells) right again.

Date: 2011-06-18 10:55 am (UTC)Does this mean you buy the pie for it, make a speech or have to read all the neophyte writers' cruddy prose?

Date: 2011-06-19 03:03 pm (UTC)It's like a mini-workshop that lasts about 4 hours. The hosting author picks a topic in advance and each participant submits 5 pages (double spaced) for review by the host.
I have 20 bloody participants by the way and I chose dialogue mechanics.
SiGH.
Way to get people talking!
