From time to time, people email me and casually suggest their favorite fandom or pairing. I don't take requests so it's rare that someone go so far as to actually request a pairing from me. I just get "suggestions" and I really don't mind. Most often the emails amuse the hell out of me because it is so obvious they are trying REALLY hard not to ask but to only suggest and flutter their eyelashes at me. It's kind of like they're flirting with me on behalf of their OTP. It's cute.

So, I thought I'd take  chance here to tell you about who I ship and what fandoms I follow and why.

So here goes:

In the Star Trek Fandom I ship:

Kirk/Spock
Sarek/Amanda
Sarek/Chris Pike
Chris Pike/Leonard McCoy

I do not ship: Kirk/McCoy

In the Stargate Fandom I ship:

McKay/Sheppard
O'Neill/Carter
Lorne/Zelenka

While I've written it casually I don't ship Jackson/O'Neill -- I don't read it. I don't especially like it.

In the Inception Fandom I ship:

Arthur/Eames and that's absolutely it. They are my OTP. Period.

In the Harry Potter Fandom I ship:

Harry/Draco
Harry/Hermione
Harry/Luna
Sirius/Remus
Sirius/Snape

I don't ship Harry/Ron or Harry/Ginny or heaven fucking forbid Harry/Snape-- I have read some great Harry/Ron fic in the past but that was when I was very new to the fandom and well, before the last book came out. I just think Ron is a complete waste of space now. Harry/Ginny makes me want to stab someone in the face.

In the Hawaii 5-0 Fandom:

I ship no one. No, really, I know that I used to post Steve/Danny recs on Slashworld and I really meant it at the time! I mean, I really loved that fandom and then Danny fucked his ex-wife while she was still married to Stan on the show and I lost all respect for him. I can't help it. I didn't even know how far gone I was until I stumbled upon a great death fic where Danny and Rachel die in a bombing and Steve got custody of Grace. Here's the thing -- I didn't even come close to crying because Danny and Rachel was dead. That's when I realized that the writers of that show have ruined the whole thing for me.

In the Sherlock Holmes Fandom:

Sherlock Holmes/John Watson

That is my OTP for the fandom and that's how I roll. There is no one else that appeals to me.

In the Criminal Minds Fandom:

Morgan/Reid

I can't help but to put the pretty together.

HP- Harry/Severus
Harry/Draco

I've written Harry/Remus but that's cause I killed off Severus and Draco LOL.. and I've also written Severus/Harry/Lucius.. and I'm with you about Ginny/Harry.. I would rather bleach my eyes out..

I like a good Harry/Hermione... Why JK married her off to Ron..I'll never know..

Stargate- Jack/Daniel

Sherlock... it calls for Sherlock/John... just calls for it..

Cause its not up there as something you don't explicitly ship Draco/Hermione? Draco/Hermione/Harry?

I don't really care but I'm curious. Because I try everything at least once until I find something better.

Pike/Sarek, oh my.

So torn on this...I like it, yet I love Amanda too much to want a story where she's dead or divorced. Now I'm all conflicted, dammit!

I'd still love to see a story with this pairing, mind you, I'm just not sure how I'd feel about the circumstances.

Damned shame about 5-O, I finally got around to seeing it, and... yeah.

Agred for H5.0l they pretty ruined the whole series, sometimes i see an episode one or two week after the diffusion.

Harry/Hermione hell to the no, it's like if he screwed his own sister.

Harry/Ron, no thanks you very much, i prefer Harry/Neville, plus Matthew became a cutie pie.

Pike/McCoy for the win, mature and sexy.

You don't like O'Neill/Jackson and you wrote them, you are a complex person.

That's rather cool.

I tend not to have OTPs - though I do have 'oh my god no's. And I totally agree with you on the Harry/Ron thing, and I don't much care for Ginny, either.

I did have an OTP once, but cannon was violently against it - I used to ship Jadzia Dax/Kira very hard. But then they got Dax married off to a Klingon and Jadzia was killed, and frankly the idea of Ezri Dax and Kira was wrong I levels I can barely contemplate.

Date: 2012-03-12 09:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] insanity--inc.livejournal.com
Huh...You know Kira/Dax sounds like a pretty good pairing. Never thought of shipping them before. I'm a Odo/Kira shipper at heart but Jadzia and Kira seemed to have a pretty solid friendship going on. With the right writer and the right story I can easily see it blossoming into something more.

I haven't seen the series since it ended so my memories of a lot of it a fairly hazy.

I didn't like Ezri. I'm hesitant to say 'rabid hater' but they put her into soooo many episodes I had a tendency to want to either throw her off a cliff or spork my eyes out when she came onscreen. I get that she was new and it was the last season but I think they gave her eps at the expense of other character stories. So for me it was "Oh yay, another Ezri ep they're shoving down our throats."

I have the same reaction to Keller. They could have been characters I liked if they hadn't been the focus of so many eps all at once.

bombing fic

I'm nearly exclusively a slash reader.

In ST:TOS I couldn't see Kirk/Mccoy. This changed in the reboot. (I think it's the actors who portray them.)

I've never seen Inception, but if you post a story, I'll read it.

Sirius/Snape? Could you recommend stories? I haven't seen much of this pairing.

Could you please post the link to the H5-O bombing fic you mentioned. I haven't really had time to see the latest episodes, but this piqued my interest.

Sherlock is so not my fandom. I couldn't even finish watching the first three episodes, and left the newest ones alone.

Harry/Ron was/is alright if I ignore his more annoying personality traits, but its kind of hard. Harry/Snape... so does not work for me. Harry/Ginny... I can't stand the bitch! *blushes* Yeah, anyways, REALLY don't like her!

This is probably the wrong place to ask but I have a quick question regarding Harry/Ginny. I never read the books (although I'm thinking of doing so now) and found the relationship in the movie about as anemic as you can get. Maybe it was the total lack of chemistry between the actors, I don't know. My uestion though is, was it as annoying in the books as it was in the movie?

Hmm, I used to not be able to see Kirk/McCoy before the reboot either, (Karl Urban, and Chris Pine- whoot, much chemistry there) but my real question is ...

How do you feel about Kirk/Pike? I think I have seen a four or five authors who manage this with the skill and grace it calls for, and yet... I love this pairing. Another strange pairing that works surprisingly enough is Winona/Sarek, snuffles laughter, and of course the Spock/Kirk freaking out on the side lines is inevitably hilarious.

Yeah, I love McKay/Sheppard. Love, whereas I ship Jack/Daniel, and have read very few Carter/O'Neill fics with any grace. But there are some nice Sara/Jack fics, that I adore where he gets back together with his ex-wife, and they heal at least somewhat from Charlie's death. Shrugs, I don't really know why one woman works, and not the other... well, at least not any theories that you wouldn't hate anyway. There is a particularly cool series going by Lady Ra that reunites Jack/Sara, has Daniel/Teal'c, and several other interesting pairings from crossovers. It's beautifully done. I think it's the Prime series, but one of the series titles is Guardian, starring Jack/Sarah.

I haven't got a clue in HP, miss Daniel and Steve in Hawaii 50, and absolutely ship Sherlock/Watson. Of course, I love crossovers too, and I won't even start on my Sentinel obsession that fits in any other universe. :D -SB

Sad to say, I ship Harry/Snape, but that's mostly because they're the 2 most interesting characters in the whole thing, and it lends itself to some fabulous complications. The idea of Harry going on to a happy, uncomplicated, angst-free adulthood making his own family with Ginny just seems to ignore pretty much everything JKR's put Harry through. I mean, come on, all those issues just vanish? I could see him trying for that (though yuck, she's like his little sister!), but I get the feeling it'd blow up spectacularly.

I've found I end up being a fangirl for series I haven't even seen, which does have the advantage that a show can't really spoil my shipping pleasure.

Harry Potter: Harry/Snape (I'll read good Harry/Draco), Sirius/Remus
Stargate: O'Neill/Jackson, Sheppard/McKay
The Sentinel: Jim/Blair
BBC Sherlock: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Lestrade/Mycroft Holmes
SPN: (very guilty pleasure) J2 RPF
Chuck: Chuck/Casey
Firefly: Mal/Jayne or occasionally Simon/Jayne
Criminal Minds: Hotchner/Reid, Rossi/Prentiss
H5O: Danny/Steve

I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting the odd fandom, but that's my list at the moment. I used to ship 10/Rose (Doctor Who), but I'm back to preferring my Doctor to be on his own, or at least being very discreet - it's far more British that way!

I clicked on this purely out of shameless curiosity because I'm always interested in who others ship, and I think I had a mini-stroke of pure glee when I saw Arthur/Eames because I fucking love them. Have you ever written them and I just missed it?? Or do you just ship them personally and/or read them but haven't written them? I'm still new to the actual fandom part of Inception, but I've been on the Arthur/Eames boat since I first saw the movie. Arthur/Eames is to Inception what McKay/Sheppard is to SGA; there can be no other OTP for me.

Lucky me that you ship all my favourites, then. :-) (Except maybe Sheppard/Lorne, that I find a really interesting pairing probably because I think they underused Lorne grossly in the show.)

Harry/Draco - absolutely.
I've read one Harry/Snape that I liked but otherwise I'm really wary of that pairing. Snape/Sirius works, maybe, I find it hard to put up a credible attractive Snape. I can't picture Harry with Ron, it's impossible. I like Ginny but I think Harry and her would've broken up because the Weasleys are more like his siblings anyway.

To me, the ultimate slash pairings are Kirk/Spock and Holmes/Watson. :-) They define slash. But the first pair I ever slashed was Hamlet and Horatio - I still think it's perfect and obvious in every way.

I have even more respect for your writing skills now that I know you don't particularly ship Jack/Daniel. You wrote them believably well when you used that pairing in your works.

Me, I'm so jealous for my chosen pairings that I get pissy whenever I see either of the pair put with someone else.

As for me:

The Sentinel: Jim/Blair
Star Wars: Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan
Harry Potter: Snape/Harry (preferrably where he's 18+ )
Xiaolin Showdown: Chase Young/Jack Spicer (preferrably where he's 18+ )
Stargate: Jack/Daniel, John/Rodney (really, really, REALLY love John/Rodney)

And, really, Harry/Ginny...? You do the stabbing, I'll kill it with fire. 'Cause, ew.

I will admit Sherlock/John is love, but I've read two good fics with Mycroft/John and the writer's style is what made me love the pairing. Same with a actually good Harry/Ginny fic, it's all about the writer's style.

Though I will admit...... I'd probably love anything you'd wrote, even if it was something as twisted as Harry/Dumbledore XD

i'cant read the Inception fandom - i tried, i really tried but i feel so annoyed when i think about the huge holes in the plot and their cliche psychbabble in the movie, just arrgh and no, but they are cuties, sigh.

HP - basicly only Harry/Draco
I like Harry/Ginny only when it's over (characterwise Ginny and Ron are both complete failure) but I've read one brilliant Pansy/Ginny crack!fic in which all of Ginnys annoying traits work well with the story

Hawaii 5-0 - I'll just ignore the whole Rachel plot, just like i did with Jennifer Keller on SGA - it never happend!

Criminal Minds - Morgan/Reid, nods
SGA - McShep - everything else is just additional
Star Trek - Spock/Kirk, Sarek/Amanda or Sarek/Pike or Pike/McCoy and Zulu/Pavel

NCIS- Gibbs/Dinozzo - so much potential, in the early days of the show

BBC Holmes - John/Sherlock and Mycroft/Lestrade, because i adore the holmesian way of dealing with the mere mortals

For H50 I have decided when it comes to fan fiction to treat the whole Danny being a cheating jerk thing the way I do the deaths of characters I like. Just ignore it and pretend that shit didn't happen. If I can ignore McKay/Keller I can ignore this shit. I'm not letting asshole writers ruin my enjoyment of fandom.

My fandom pairings, in no particular order:

The Sentinel:

Jim/Blair
Simon/Megan
Rafe/Megan

Xena:Warrior Princess

Ares/Joxer
Cupid/Strife

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Spike/Xander
I have occasionally read a Angel/Xander fic but the writer has to really be great because Angel was an asshole and I really didn't care for the character at all.

SGA

McKay/Sheppard (OTP)
Miko/Ronon
Lorne/Parish
Sheppard/Cadman (I blame you for this)

Starsky and Hutch

Starsky/Hutch

Harry Potter

Harry/Draco
Harry/Hermione
Nev/Luna
Sirius/Hermione (this is from a time travel fic)

CSI

Stokes/Hodges

CSI:NY

Danny/Adam

CSI:Miami

H/Speed
Eric/Calliegh

Hawaii 5-0

Steve/Danny
Kono/Danny
Chin/Kono (yes I know they're supposed to be cousins)

Supernatural

Dean/Castiel

Star Trek (reboot only)

Spock/Kirk
Sarek/Amanda
Pine/McCoy (I blame you for this as well)
McCoy/Various OC Vulcans

Criminal Minds

Morgan/Reid
Morgan/Garcia
Garcia/Morgan/Reid

NCIS

Gibbs/McGee (I blame Emerald for this one)

This doesn't even count minor fandoms or rare pairings. No wonder I have over 1000 bookmarks, I apparently read a LOT of fanfic.

I think it's interesting that you ship Lorne/Zelenka, yet you have only written it once, and in a stand alone one shot to boot. This is just idle observation, though; it's funny because SG:A seems to be your most-written-in fandom to date.

Other than that, I'm really happy about the Harry Potter list, since most of my favorites and most of my hated's are on your respective lists as well - this gives me hope that if you decide to keep writing in the fandom, there'll be pairings I can enjoy, too =3

Yup, 5-0 will never be the same again.

BBC Sherlock: I am totally besotted with Lestrade and want to punch Mycroft repeatedly in his smirking face, yet somehow the OTP sneaking up on me is Mycroft/Lestrade.

The only HP pairing I'll read is Neville/Draco. I read the books because my best friend is a huge fan and was totally underwhelmed. Spent the whole time wanting to slap the three main characters but I liked Neville for his loyalty and determination and Draco kinda snuck up on me there at the end.

If they're not an OTP you've previously considered, may I suggest the brilliant Lust Over Pendle series by A J Hall http://lop.shoesforindustry.net/chronology.html Or feel free to ignore it, as you wish. ":^D

I've only seen the 3 eps of the BBC Sherlock series on itunes and it doesn't have the next season. I remember Mycroft meeting John but not Lestrade.

Am I right in assuming there's a second season? And if there is, do Mycroft and Lestrade actually interact with each other?

You don't really know me, but I can't resist commenting. I'll even show how I meandered into fandoms.

My first fandom is Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Spike/Buffy. Big time. I mostly write Spuffy.

One of the Spuffy writers delved into Harry Potter and I followed.
Draco/Hermione
Severus/Hermione, the writers tend to be more mature

Smallville
Chloe/Lex, but I don't really read in this fandom much.

This one I blame entirely on my kids, because I love to tease them.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Zuko/Katara

Researching Highlander for a Highlander/BTVS I'm writing
Methos/Duncan

A writer with a great Highlander story has an unfinished Xfiles story
Skinner/Mulder

An Xfiles/NCIS crossover moved me to NCIS
Gibbs/Dinozzo

Gibbs/Dinozzo crossover with Stargate Atlantis
Sheppard/McKay

And really the Kirk/Spock from Star Trek 2009 and Jim/Blair from the Sentinel are all your fault. Love, Love your stories. Now I have a craving for Sentinel Holmes and Guide Watson. *sigh* As if I need more fandoms/ships to follow

Opps forgot one. Criminal Minds: Hotch/Reid.
