Dear Fan Fiction Writer

keiramarcosIt has come to my attention that you might be sensitive to the opinions of others. There have been times when some raging twat has come to your site, LJ, blog, or story posting on an archive and they've demonstrated their twatness to an unheard of degree. This might have made you angry. This could have made you sad. This could have made you take all of your toys and go home. Well, I'm going to give you a piece of advice (if you're willing to listen): Fuck the Haters.
No, really. Fuck them. These strangers that say shit to you online -- they don't matter. They are so completely unimportant to your life as to not even literally exist. They don't put food on your table, money in your bank, gas in your car, or love in your life. All they do is foul up the Internet with their foolish, cruel behavior. Don't let them give you anything - don't let them give you a headache or hurt your feelings.
Sometimes I let them make me mad. I allow this because I'm southern and getting mad is really like a hobby for me. Having a good old fashioned conniption is practically a tradition in my family. But, if being mad and ranting doesn't help you -- doesn't amuse you like it does me -- don't let those fuckers do that to you either.
The next time some asshole posts a comment on your story telling you that your story sucks, or they hate this or they hate that -- you tell them to kiss my ass. No really -- you say this: "Keira Marcos wanted me to let you know that you could kiss her lily white ass." Then you can link to this post.

And I have actually been so harassed that I had to remove and rewrite a story. And the rewrite sucked. I kind of quit writing after that. I really need to pull all my old stuff, and start fresh. Maybe now that I'm older and have a thicker skin, things will click better for me.
But all that was before I knew the awesome that was Keira. So, my past fledgling writer self says "Thank you."

The problem with an anti-bullying community is that soon such a community would develop a mob mentality and become bullies themselves. That's just human nature. One reason I don't allow the posting of negative comments on my website is to avoid the fall out of such a thing.
