I'm starting a new project -- something different and sort of scary. I don't know what it will be, yet. It's original fiction. But I'm plotting and world building tonight and I realized that just like all writer's my process has evolved. I don't always know how or who or even when my process will advance to the next level. This time, I totally do because I found myself asking YOUR questions.

My readers are awesome. Your curiousity and your questions have shaped me in the most interesting ways as an author. I was looking at the Q & As for my series work and the desire to know more, more, more when it comes to the history of what is essentially an original world.

The thing is that my only real foray into science fiction writing is in fandom. My professional work is contemporary and historical mostly -- with a smidgen of fantasy here and there. So I'm building my own sci-fi world full of war and hot guys and evil people and sex and gadgets and hope. It's kind of fascinating BUT more so it's just really awesome that thanks to you all I'm thinking about the history of my world in a way I never would've in the past.

That's awesome.

You are so welcome.

You have taught me more about the craft of writing than I think can be verbalized. I know that thanks to the questions, demands, and subtle ( and not so subtle ) challenges you have thrown my way, I enjoy my writing more. I am thrilled thay we can do the same for you.

I am so looking forward to what will come up with, I know I have a lot to thank you for, while I have not put anything forward (apart from a very small piece in a small English fandom) I am working on several pieces, and I know I am going places I have never been before.

Mostly I think I have started to overcome my fear of someone not liking what I write or being offended, well now I think... "they can just go root a boot" In the nicest way possible :-)

It's Australian slang for fuck, so go fuck a boot.

When American's say fanny, you mean ass, a fanny in Australia to put it in polite terms is 'ladies parts'

You make it seem so easy but I know how hard you work. We're the ones that reap the benefits of your imagination, so thank you!

I know from personal experience that it's scary to do something you've never done before. I have a rule: If I try something, I will never sit here and wonder "what if". If I succeed, great. If not, I've learned something about myself and at least I can say I tried.

This is the very reason I love your stuff. You are thoughtful, inventive and thorough. Your desire to learn, investigate and know is what puts you so far above so many many other writers. For me the back round stuff is often what invests me in the character or setting. It makes the story more of a living thing, a place I want to return too.

Every time I go and read your stories, I keep telling myself that I need to go and find some of your 'professional' work... and then I just keep forgetting because I have the attention span of a goldfish...

Your Welcome! Glad to be of at least some help!

Will you be posting some of this original fic on your website?

Cool, but do you use the name Keira Marcos for the work you get paid for? Or a pen name? (Or a different pen name anyway, 'cause I've never been sure if Keira Marcos is your real name or not, but I kind of figured you wouldn't use your real name because you are very smart and know how to protect yourself from the internet crazies)

Also, I'd really like to read some of your other professional work. Do you have anything that's already being sold on Amazon or B&N?

You are quite welcome Keira.

It's a two way street you know. I have certainly grown as a writer since I started hanging out with you and the Minions in the chat. Before that I hadn't written anything in two years. Now I can't seem to stop writing.

Thank you Keira.

If we're going to be thanking people for helping us evolve as writers thank you! I used to always write on a project until I got bored with it and just throw it on the back burner never to be revisited. Now I hop from story to story and it helps keep me engaged. I also work on writing at least 30 minutes or more a day now and that's your fault too :) The thing about minion chat/Naked/Different Road and any of the other many approved stalking we have is that it's built a supportive community. You basically created an online writing workshop for all of us. So thank you! :)

OMG!!! Cannot wait to read your stuff, you're a phenomenal writer and I just absolutely adore you!!! Seriously, if you were to sell your stuff I'd more than likely buy it! But hopefully it'll be free, because you know it's free and seriously you're a freaking awesome writer, love your series and everything that you have pretty much written, well at least on your website, cause I've never read your other stuff...but I do have to ask, is there any way that I can read your other stuff too? Cause that'd be awesome and I think I've said this before, but you're one of my favorite writers of all time, like up there with Linda Howard and Judith McNaught, so yep, there you go!

Wow, that was a really really long comment, but I hope that you are able to understand what I wrote, I tend to ramble...which isn't the best thing in the world, but yep! I love you and your writing and love all the things that you post up on your livejournal, you're seriously really strong, and I admire that!!!

Keep up with all the good work and seriously, seriously cannot wait to see what you come up with, as it is, I think you're pretty damn creative, as you take stuff from other stuff and make it uniquely your own.

And dang, I wrote a freaking essay, but I'm just so excited!!! ^^

That's cool, but I would love to know what your professional persona is, just so I can buy and read it!!! But I understand, that makes a lot of sense, keeping the two separate.

And if you do publish original work under your pen name I'd be more than happy to pay, just as long as it isn't too expensive...just cause your work is again just freaking phenomenal

If Keira offered up her fic (that she works damn hard on) for sale, I would pay the price asked. No question. No matter what.

And expensive is relative. She is worth the cost.

Hell, girl I wish I could pay for your fan fiction. It's better than a lot of the stuff I have paid for. I guarantee I will be happy to pay for original Kiera fiction.

yeah, that makes sense. I admit to a slight moue of disappointment that there will not be reading of Keira'sOtherFic -- but oh hell yeah I totally understand. Just glad we get to read the stuff you share with us, it's a helluva lot of fun.

And if ye publish original fic as Keira I'd figure out a way to pay for it and consider the trade well made and fair. I mostly quit buying fiction the last decade or so because so much of what's out there is utter crap, or even if the writer is good they are just phoning it in and it shows. I'm happy to know when I see one of yours, it doesn't matter what fandom, I'm bound to enjoy it. First found your fic thru a Treklist I'm on that was praising Tangled Destinies, and from there devoured everything you post. As long as you are writing fanfic I'll be reading it.

As for original fic, may the Muse be ever generous with thee!

I'm so excited that you are thinking about this. And I will definitely pay for whatever you choose to create. I've also often wished to read your other work, but I completely respect (and agree with) your reasons for keeping those parts of your life separate. You are a wise woman.

All that too say--squee!!! I'm looking forward to any and all stories you create--fanfic or original, free or paid. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into so many stories that have given us hours and hours of enjoyment. I've been re-reading "Tangled Destinies" today while waiting in many lines. Got to love the iPad. :-)

I totally understand keeping your personae separate. As much rationalization as I've read in other places about what a legal gray area transformative works occupy, no one who needs to make a living needs to be the test case for industry reaction to a pro writing fan fiction.

So even though I'd spork someone to get a copy of your foray into commercial sci fi, I respect your privacy.

I'd definately pay for your writing.
The sheer effort, thought and discipline involved...its tough, I know, as someone who is trying to get it together to FINISH some of my work. (Having been published in the past, but so long ago it might as well be another fricking lifetime).
We your readers have learnt a lot. As I often say, the best slash fanfic writers such as yourself, Auburn,Cesperanza, Xanthe, Jane Davitt to name but a few, are giving us masterclasses in writing. And making the TV show that inpire the fiction, often look clumsy and amateurish in the writing part by comparison (*cough* Stargate Universe!*cough*)
I love the thought of your writing original science fiction. I'd gobble it up with a spoon! And I'm besides mself, waiting for our 'Criminal Minds' Hotch/Reid fic!!!!
