?? Haven't seen it yet, is the actual movie worth it? I was planning to go since the trailer looked good.

Jeremy Renner proved he can take any glop of cheese product and, with the judicious use of black leather and heavy ordinance, turn it into gourmet fondue.

Yeah, I know... The movie either doesn't have any other characters to really pair the siblings with or kills them off, so people are mainly going with incest in the fics. Some crossovers are good though.

Saw the movie last night. My opinion, if you take it for what it is, a momentary break from RL, then it was great.

If you're interested, there is a fic I've been following over on AO3 where all of several of Jeremy's characters are featured with their origins going back to Hansel. I've enjoyed it so far and it is updated regularly.

A person in the het_reccers comm I watch just posted two recs for Hansel/Gretel. This should not surprise me, but really? Come on people, incest should be a last resort. I just don't understand having sexual feelings between siblings. Is this something like religion which I'll never really understand and don't want to anyway? I want some epic gen fics for once, romance is not necessary (especially since not everyone can be as awesome as Kiera when they write it)!

My opinion only: this type of incest results more from fans who want to ship or slash two attractive actors than fans who truly view the characters as siblings. We should soon start to see the stories that spend a third to half of the narrative explaining how the siblings aren't actually related--say, Hansel's father is Gretel's mother's second union, so H&G aren't any blood kin.

Like that makes it better when they grew up as brother and sister.

re incest -- yeah, that's one of my few squicks, and it's a biggie. I avoided most of the Supernatural fandom for exactly that reason.

in Trekfic they usedta pair Doctor Crusher and her son, which, idek, ew?

sounds like the movie itself is fun, though, so I guess I'll check it out.

Ye like steampunk -- by any chance have you checked out Girl Genius? they call themselves something like gaslamp fantasy, can't remember -- but it's all Mad Science and crazed geniuses and some truly hilarious side characters -- I'd love to party with the Jagermonsters, mmm, yeah. heh. anyways, check it out, it might amuse ye -- which would be a first installment payback for all the lols and smiles you've gifted me.

My opinion + Mad Spoilers, yo

Incest in the case of Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters is just lazy. There's a dishy little baby witch hunter for Hansel and it would take mad shipping skillz to sell me on Gretel/Edward but c'mon, the chemistry was stirred right in. For the all-human femslashers (Gretel) or hetseekers (Hansel) in the audience, I distinctly saw Gretel pick up that wand with the dead white witch right there. It would take nothing to sell me on a quick resurrection, especially if she still has the wind-up taser et voila, Gretel/Mina or Hansel/Mina. For people who like the whole chicken, I've heard siblings sharing can be dealt with tastefully.

Just sayin' and putting my splint back on.
