DO NOT FALL FOR THIS AMAZON WORLDS SHIT. IT IS VERY BAD NEWS FOR FANDOM AND FOR WRITERS. I MEAN THIS. DO NOT JUMP ON THIS BANDWAGON AND BECAUSE THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND -- INTELLECTUALLY AND FINANCIALLY.

The only person I let screw me these days is my husband.

Read this:
Cats & Dogs Living Together: A Response to the Kindle Worlds Announcement

Then watch this to get your mind off how horrible this whole Kindle Worlds crap is:

The Queen has spoken. Long live the Queen

(yeah, that was cheeky)

I thought there had to be something seriously wrong with this whole proposal when I read about it earlier. The other minions seem equally ambivalent. Honestly, I think this attempt at "regimenting" fan-fiction will simply ruin it. Building walls and rules can only limit creativity and imagination. It certainly won't encourage any.

You know, I am really not surprised especially after the alleged tax avoidance in the UK issues last November, who knows what their philosophy is in regard to finance and their moral behaviour towards customers.

Thank you for a little piece of cheer up heaven with the video after the morning I have just had finding out my good friend and colleague was in an RTA I am a little stressed. Fortunately she isn't badly hurt and just shaken up but her car is a total write off.

The whole concept of Fandoms ain't broke so don't need fixin'.

I also like to know that when I thank an author for an amazing piece of writing that they hear what I say and more importantly know that they are appreciated or in the case of some worshiped.

Ta'

This is horrible because if it works even a little the original owners will most likely decide to only tolerate licensed fanfic which means free fanfic will be targeted. Also does this means that Amazon etc are going to try to stop writers from posting free fanfic in the "worlds" they've licensed?

Porn isn't allowed so I assume slash fanfic won't be either.

I really hope it crashes and burns because it sounds bad for everyone except Amazon and maybe the original owners.

Yeah, one of the friends I follow brought that up last night. Bad Idea all the way around!

John Scalzi, author of fanfic about Star Trek, both the universe and the show, and the fan meme of red shirt, has written a good piece on this also.

And, the thing no one else seems to have mentioned. There is already an issue with troglodyte plagiarists in fandom. Now Amazon is giving them a platform to get paid for ripping off other fanfic writers.

Your's is the second rant that I've read about this. This could either be big hit against the fanfiction world or a complete bust for Amazon. Down with the big corporation, let our ideas go free.

PS> Saw the movie. It was fantastic!!!!!!!
Sherlock was a great Kahn. The first one was still better but it had a much broader reach of time to cross.

You know, I was going to ask you what your opinion on this was, because when I saw it, my first reaction was, "Oh... BAD juju!!" Because it just... sounds too good to be true, and there are just so many ways this could go horribly wrong... for the writers.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this whole idea stinks.

I agree. I write for fun, not profit. However, if I did wish to profit, why sign the rights away for breadcrumbs. Run for the Hills!

did some reading around and about tonight. look up FanLib and fandom.com; same shit, different website.

I agree, the rights outlined (lack of rights is more accurate) amount to a total giveaway. yeah, no. dat ain't happening. ain't about to spackle some original owners' totally incompetent excuse at a plot, only to hand it all to them for free and forever. Rather keep my own stuff mine, that way if I end up adapting/recycling/using cut snippets in other ways, I'll no' be getting C & D letters from pinche Amazon.

Life's too short. hopefully they'll stick to mstly trolling ff.net for the overeager tween crowd and leave us the hell alone.

Thanks, Keira!! I *so* agree!
