So,

I write this series and I had the bulk of it written about a year ago. Unfortunately due to an EPIC fail on the part of my back-up and my computer (and maybe me)-- I lost the entire series which had already gone over 100 thousand words. If you pay attention to my site-- you'd realize that's not exactly out of the norm for me on the series front. I write big, epic things because that's how my brain works.

I break my work down into "short stories" or in the case of the series that is the problem "episodes". I do this because I hate to leave a reader hanging for weeks with a half-completed idea. Most do consider my series works Works In Progress and that's fine as long as they realize that some of them may never end in my mind. LOL.

So-- I'm supposed to be writing the next episode in Sentinels of Atlantis and in the original series (epic loss-see above)-- I did have an episode in the series dealing with the events of The Storm from the canon episode of Stargate: Atlantis. The thing is that--I wrote that before TPTB lied to us and cancelled our show. When that happened-- I lost a great deal of respect for the canon aspects of the show. Having realized this about myself-- I do try to be careful not let rocks fall and kill EVERYONE. Nor have I set fire to my mental set so that everyone on the show DIAF.

That being said-- I am having a hard time following my own original plans when it comes to The Storm episode and what I have plotted for my next episode of Sentinels of Atlantis. Last night I did some yoga and thought about it-- and just decided "fuck it and do it different" which is pretty interesting to think when one is very very relaxed. So, I'm going to do it different and since I was never a slave to canon the results should be pretty cool.

So honey, fuck the TPTB, forgot about them and their plots and make you own like you do so perfectly.

It's suck, my internet connection is so slow, if you don't see me for a long times send me a pretty guy from FBI without a trace lol !

hey that sounds kewl to me *g* I can't say that I have ever been a slave to canon when fanfic is in progress and frankly TPTB destroyed SGA when they did their self-serving crap.

I certainly don't see anything wrong with that, especially because the whole rocks fall everyone dies plan won't make it off the storyboard.:-D

Honestly, I have always thought that what writer's in the SGA fandom come up with are always better then what TPTB do. This is a amazing fandom with the best writers in any fandom ever and I consider you one of my very favorites. So please do what you want and let cannon suck it (but I was looking forward to see what happens with Sentinels vs Genii. I love nothing better then Kickass John and Woobie Rodney). Every time I see on Twitter that you have updated I squee out-loud no matter which WIP is it. I normally say no to WIP for fear of it being abandon, but yours I can't say no to. Have to read.

I really enjoyed The Storm and The Eye - but, I've Loved your take on things. So, to me, it all good. Write it the way you see it, it's your AU and so far it's been fantastic. :)

Hmm, I think you should save what you can for sentimentalities sake, and then just do what feels right. I notice some of your best efforts, and that is coming from a stunning range and set of series, sort of start with cannon and then veer off to the left. Chuckles, using elements of cannon is what some of the most creative, and intriguing stories do. I was rereading your Blair/Jim Sentinel story, and noticing you had Carson in there as a Baby Guide.

Grins sheepishly, I was trying to figure out a way, a sensible way for Jim, and Blair to meet Rodney, and John. Nothing came to me, but I was certainly twisting into to knots trying because it would be so fascinating. Ah, well, I'll leave the creative, interesting stuff in your stories up to you. You do such a great job, it's not like you need help. I am sorry for the loss of fic, but sometimes as irritating as it is, the universe has other ideas, grins. Good luck, and great job. -SB

I trust you with our boys and the rest of our characters so much more than I ever did TPTB, so I'll just sit happily, re-reading what you've already given us, until you're ready to give us more of whatever you want to give us. I'm just grateful that you share!

Who's excited? I'm excited.

I love when writers put their own spin on the episodes, makes it more interesting. In any case, I started losing love for the show as it progressed, and I never finished watching s5. So hey, AU AWAY!

I have absolutely loved your twists to canon, especially in "Sentinels" starting from what mad ethe Wraith wake up. And little things like trying to make the scientists in "Ties that Bind" follow protocols so fewer people get hurt and they do less dumb things.

Whatever feels right. That's what you should do!

As all previous evidence seems to support the conclusion that you freaking rock no matter what direction a story goes in, I for one, am not too worried. Although, I'll still keep my fingers crossed for a Feral!John because really that's the only major part of The Storm that I was really looking forward to. Regardless, I'm sure it will be on par with everything else you've gifted us with: that is to say, Awesome.

I think you usually come up with better plots than TPTB anyway :-)

As long as you keep John and Rodney alive I think you could do pretty much anything and I'd find it awesome.

To be honest I've been so disappointed with the way some of my favorite shows have either been cancelled or had their plots become cardboard that I stopped watching tv. I get my story fixes from authors like you who make me "want" to know what happens next. I'm really sorry you lost so much hard work but am happy you still want to replace it at all. Just don't forget to not overwork yourself or make yourself sick or your hubby will come after all us demanding fans with a shovel.

As someone's icon once said, sometimes you just have to say *screw canon*. To me, that's one of the main points of fic: what if things/people were completely different? I love minor/unlikely/crack pairings, I love AUs, I love crossovers, I love total deviation from canon events and characterizations... And you do a fantabulous job at all that. :) So, I'm looking forward to whatever you post next, and please don't think me a stalker if I check your site and/or lj daily even though I subscribed to your blog...

(Seen on a button at Writercon a few years ago)

I will read pretty much anything you write, as evidenced by my breaking a longstanding "BDSM? Huge girly EW!" and loving the hell out of Ties that Bind, especially anything having to do with Gerard or Syed or any other Dom who wants to "take a ride on that Marine" lusting after John, but I digress.

While "The Storm" and "The Eye" were some of the better efforts of the SGA cast a crew, I am in awe of the spins, twists and high polishes you put on canon in your AUs. I'm still waiting for the one where they turn on the interdimensional bridge and two things happen:

A certain level 4 Sentinel meets a specific dysfunctional Domme, wrinkles up her nose and asks "What the hell is wrong with you?" but before she can get the whole question out, her Guide has skinned the Domme out for a throw rug;

and/or

A certain level eleventy Guide goes bug-eyed and asks "That's all consensual? Seriously?" but before he can finish the question a certain level eleventy Sentinel says "No, the weird part is that they think this is all temporary" and a certain "temporary" pair has the grace to look abashed.

And if all the Johns were in the same room, I can just see TTB Sheppard being brutally polite to all the Air Force officers, many of whom he outranked for a long time when careers are compared side-by-side, as he predicted in one of the earlier stories. ;)

Okay, and how weird is it that my "prove you're not a robot" words to post this are "ready service?" :D

I'm very sorry for the data loss - I'm a writer too, and I've had that kind of thing happen myself, and I know how hard it sucks. But I have so, so been looking forward to your take on The Storm, and I still am.

(I want to see terrible things happen to Kolya for touching Rodney, and I think that's, frankly, perfectly valid.)

See, the way I see it is that most fanfic is a new insight into some tiny bit of canon. Whilst everyone picks a different aspect to look at, it's all based around the same story. All well and good, but we *know* what's going to happen, we *know* how the story ends. AUs offer an entirely new, shiny world to play in.

It takes a writer of skill to be able to carry of an AU convincingly without veering too far into OOC territory. You've got the skill and the imagination to create something truly magnficent without losing the aspects of the characters that we really, truly love.

So I can't wait to see what you come up with (no pressure, k?!) because it's going to be just fantastic.

I think you should go AU there are already other shows that could really mess with your story if your tried to make it cannon. Say for instance, The Shrine... which i know is way farther then you are on your blog, but I was watching it the other day and wondering how you could possible deal with it in your Sentinles verse anyway.

I mean cannon Keller would be a real problem. But to be honest I was more interested on the effects of the bond between Rodney and John

Since I compulsively check your WIP schedule, I saw that you have put Sentinels of Atlantis on hold indefinitely. I kind of get why, since you have like a zillion things going on. But is there anything I can bribe you with? Dancing girls, acrobatic boys, belly dancers, maids? Something?

I didn't think so, especially since you know I'm not as staggering wealthy as my offer makes me seem. I'm just a desparate hooligan who will have to sate themselves on what you do write.

So when does the next Ties that Binds come out?

It doesn't matter how long it is. I reread them alot. You are without a doubt my most favorite fanfic author of all time in any fandom. Your stories generally give me a lot of pleasure, and I use them as incentives to do housework. My husband thanks you.
