And how was Pacific Rim?

I'm normally a complete whore for big explosion, mid-summer popcorn movies, but simply haven't been in the right headspace for something that looks like a much grimmer cross between Independence Day and Transformers.

Are the trailers leading me astray?

Pacific Rim had me on a high for days. I came back from the theater, got on my laptop, and was going EEEEEEE!!! to all my friends online.

Every single one of them point blank said "You just got back from Pacific Rim, didn't you?"

It was awesome in so many ways.

It was grim, yes, but there was so much hope in it, too, not just in the story, but in how the story was put together.

If you have any desire to see this movie, please see it in the theater. I'm already regretting not being able to once it leaves.

Try and see it in 3D (not IMAX). I saw it that way - the first movie I've ever seen in 3D that wasn't an IMAX documentary - and I do not regret it at all. I think I would if I hadn't, the way I regret not having seen Hugo in 3D when I had the chance.

I missed it this afternoon, but will try to find a theater still playing it in 3D this weekend. Sounds like a winner
