Here's What Will Happen

I have this huge fic I'm going to start posting. It's going to be about 200k at completion. It is probably a fic that will spawn a sequel. It's set in the HP fandom and is Harry/Hermione. There is het sex in it. It's not as explicit as some of the sex on my site due to the fact that the fic takes place during their sixth year at Hogwarts. I'm going to post it in 10k installments probably on a weekly basis as I edit/beta it.

The results of my activity will vary but I know:

1. Some of you will be disappointed that it's not Harry/Draco.
2. Some of you will be disappointed that it's Het instead of Slash.

My response: I'm not sorry.

You're going to keep your displeasure to yourself or at least confined to your own space. If you comment on my site, LJ, twitter, or facebook about your unhappiness I'm going to publicly rip you a new asshole. I don't want emails or comment forms from my site either.

I don't want to fucking hear a single word about how unhappy I've made you because of my work.

Yes, you're entitled to your opinion. But here's something that a lot of people in fandom have a difficult time grasping -- in no way am I required to appreciate, understand, respect, or even tolerate being told your opinion.

Personally, you could probably write just about anything and I will at least try it. If i can't stand it (you wrote it so I REALLY doubt this will be an issue), that is why there is a back button......

Since your last posting of a H/H fic you found, I've been doing a little research.

Het may not be my first choice, but it's never turned me off. Quite the opposite, in fact; and you've already proven that opposites attract. :D

To be completely frank, anyone who complains about your writing has to be an Epic Sized Moron. With a teeny tiny brain. Kind of like a geriatric T-Rex without teeth flailing those skimpy little arms around in useless protest. There's an image to bear in mind the next time you get one of those "suggestive" emails. :D

Here's the thing, I've generally subscribed to the *Harry & Hermione are like brother and sister* trope/canon. I've never really thought about them *together*. I'm sure though, as uninterested as I've always been in that scenario, that I will LOVE it (as you write it). No doubt in my mind. That said...BRING IT! I can't wait. :D

eh, this fic is 95% written. It's not going to impact my other writing that much and really I've been so uninspired and bogged down lately that working on anything even in beta is a miracle.

I think the "problem" with het fanfiction isn't that het is bad (het = sex = good!) but that it's usually very canon and frankly the closer to canon a fic gets the more boring it ends up being. I mean if we wanted to read canon we'd just read the books again (or watch the episodes), etc. The other problem I've encountered with het is that het fanfiction seems to be flavored with sparkly unicorns and rainbows of sweet sickly happiness and gooey love. I think you get my meaning...

So will a Keira Marcos fic fail in the above ways? I'd bet free cookies the answer is NO. You always "stray" delightfully from canon and none of your characters ever shit rainbows...

Looking forward to transgressive het with lots of angst, interesting plot and kickass characters...

Congrats on the completion of such a long story! That's wonderful.

I don't have an issue with het fic. One of my favorite fics of all time is Het. It's set in the Labyrinth fandom and happens a few years after the end of the movie. They court through flower language and it's wonderful. The dialogue is fun too.

My issue is whether or not I can guess what's going to happen next. Slash or het, I get bored of being right when I guess where and how the author is taking a plot. The most interesting book I've read in the past week was one in which the main charas that got together both preferred to bottom. And they didn't know how to deal with that because normally the relationship would be a one-night stand that would end there, but they had already built an emotional relationship and wanted more than just sex so the relationship couldn't end there and they had to deal with it.

You have always managed to surprise me in one way or another so I'm sure I'll enjoy this story just as much.

YAY! New fic on the way. Het or slash, I care only that it is a good read that takes me away from my RL woes.

I just don't get people who can't follow one simple rule: Don't like? Don't read!

Also, as someone devoted to 'shipping a hyper Chicago detective and a possibly-deaf half-wolf, I am in NO position to comment on anyone else's pairing of choice... LOL

Anything that keeps you writing is Good. Harry/Hermione has never been my thing, but generally I follow an author, not necessarily a pairing (i.e., if I really like your writing I'll read everything you've written, regardless of pairing). So I'll probably at least try it, because you are an awesome writer.

In the unlikely event it's not to my taste, well, that's what the back button's for, and I certainly wouldn't get in your face about it. I wouldn't dare ;)

PS - when I read this entry to my wife, her eyes glazed over, and she said, "can you imagine a Harry/Severus slash the way Keira writes?" So she wants me to ask if you ever have any intention of writing that pair :) I'm still just glad to read more of your writing!
