So, dyeing my hair... normally I have a professional do it but since money has gotten a little tighter in Keira Land, I had to sacrifice somethings to keep the important stuff (coffee). So, I've been buying that John Frieda foaming color every six weeks or so and doing my own hair. Well, last time I missed a spot underneath so I was determined this morning not to miss anything because it was sort of annoying to still have gray hair after I spent 30 minutes of my life trying to get rid of it at least temporarily.

I ask my husband for assistance.

He finds the whole process... in his words... "an unnecessary vanity" -- this coming from a man who took to calling me "Rogue" four years ago when the gray started to show up.

After I get all the foam on (I think), I asked him if he could see any spots I might have missed.

SIGH.

He says, "Be right back" and goes away. He comes back with a FLASHLIGHT.

Five minutes thereafter, I'm set free from his inspection and I'm thinking that maybe I should buy less expensive coffee.

wow... I don't bother with dye anymore (I'm weird in actually being quite pleased with and proud of my grey hairs), but my hubs actually used to dye it for me. Mainly because I'm blind as a bat without my glasses and doing it with them on was out of the question (getting dye on glasses is NOT a good thing. Trust). Guess that makes me lucky?

I do know my first instinct was that the CP might be looking at some doghouse-time ;-)

ah, gotcha! Sorry, I don't always get stuff like that :-) At least he was thorough, that's always a good thing ;-)

I thought you went red a while back?

Giving fair warning and all that pissing the lady off was a *bad* idea?

I'd go gray before attempting to do my own formerly copper blonde locks. Having seen the results of at-home red headedness, I leave that and my toes to the pros.

so... how often do you see your mother? And would it be a bad idea to ask her to help you with dyeing your hair?

On the one hand I think I might have died laughing when he came back but on the other at least CP took you seriously and did his job properly. If I asked my husband to help me color my hair he would do it but he wouldn't understand why I'd be so irritated if I missed a spot. I colored my hair this really pretty cherry truffle auburn color and missed a spot underneath and it drove me nuts until I went and bought another box and fixed it because I'm mildly ocd like that. His response was "It wasn't that big of a deal Sweets." So while yes you COULD go with less expensive coffee at least you know he's got your back :D Also. Do not sacrifice the coffee. That will make you less happy than the 30 minutes of CP going legit salon on you.

At least you know he cares to get the *very* best in flashlights out to inspect you...

And *man* does that not sound incredibly dirty now that I typed it out!

The big, important jobs get the big, important tools.

:D

And yes, I completely meant the sexual innuendo.

I don't think I'd have been able to hold in my laughter. Please tell me he had on his 'I mean buisness' face when he came back. He was determined to perform his assigned duty to the best of his abilities woman. If he's that determined about everything you are a lucky wench ;)

With you on the missed bit... when I had white hair it was also a pixie crop and I missed a small patch on the back of my head - mum pointed it out... so annoyed!

I then sort of set up a mirror system - glad I'm natural again ;)

I've been dyeing my hair since senior year of high school, since that's when the grey came in (thanks, Mom. FYI, I would rather have inherited a million dollars or a house in Hawaii). The longer it is, the more of a pain in the ass it is to do yourself. Before I got annoyed with my hair and cut it all off I used to go up to the college's esthetics school near the end of semester (ie when they were getting ready to graduate the course and therefore unlikely to screw up) and get my hair cut, dyed and highlighted for 10 bucks, which seriously, I can't even buy the dye to do it myself for that price. Maybe see if there's something like that in your area, if you're willing to be a guinea pig. Because no one wants to give up good coffee.

Try Loreal Paris in the pink box. The bottle comes with a comb (as well as an applicator tip)that you can brush through your hair and squeeze at the same time. I rarely miss anything with the comb. Walmart sells them cheaper than any store I know of and there are usually 2.00 dollar coupons in the Sunday papers.

I think they might have a foam version (not sure) but I don't know if all their products come with the comb?

You had me at the Rogue comment! *dies laughing* Although, seriously, I would be thrilled to have that type of gray - the lock of solid gray - or even more than one. I would KILL for my hair to look like this - especially if it were natural. Still, it's good to know that CP has your back. :)

Oh, Oh, Oh!!! You should OWN that! I'd love to have that lock. I'd touch up the rest and hold on to that one in front. Seriously. I bet it would look gorgeous on you! I have a friend that has that lock in front, and it looks fantastic. Wish yours was mine, sweetie.

I don't have much gray, but I dye because 1. I so shoulda been a redhead, I've got the temper and everything! and 2. it keep s the dork I married from searching for the grays like apes grooming each other, then pulling them out to "show me". Like I don't know what it looks like.
