I wrote the Soulmate bond quite a long time ago and it was complete when I rediscovered it from old disks that I had in college. I rewrote it (for the better trust me) and once it started coming out of BETA I started posting it on my site. Unfortunately, in later chapters I made changes during the beta process that required I rework last few parts. The fic is basically complete barring the changes I want to make to it before posting and I hope to finish posting it before the first of April.

However, I'm human. And things happen, right? I have two betas who work on this story with me so if they aren't available to beta then I have to wait (patiently) until they are. Please don't volunteer to beta for me. Seriously. I'm very happy with my current beta relationships. Thank you.

Originally, this series was around 200k and just 20 parts. During the beta process, it swelled to roughly 300k in 25 parts. That means that during beta (and after my own major rewrite before it ever went into beta) that I wrote an additional 100k on this story since July of last year.

Of course, since I added so much to the story and changed things here and there by the time I got to part 22, I realized I needed to change a few things here and there for consistency, timeline, character development, and the plot lines. In the original version of this story -- Hermione had a different animagus form, Narcissa was killed, and Lucius Malfoy didn't get killed at Gryffindor Circle -- in the end the biggest problem turned out to be Hermione's animagus form which I changed so she could understand parseltongue BUT it crossed my mind a week after posting that it totally FUCKED part 25.

THIS IS WHY I CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS. Also, this is why I normally don't post something until I'm completely fucking done with it. *pouts*

So, it's coming. Chill out.

And in other news -- I'm going to write part 2 of the War Mages trilogy for my April Rough Trade project.

=D not that i expected updates every week or anything (i've waited 5+ years for an update to a story before, a couple extra months is nothing :D) but thank you for keeping us posted :). I always find it amazing how much your works can change (i.e. EAD excerpts vs final drafts) and how much you end up re-plotting.

In other news: ::does insane happy dance shamelessly:: i didn't expect to see anything from War Mages for a couple years yet, so this makes me giddy giddy giddy xD

I'm more than happy to wait. I mean sure it would be nice to have the shiny fic now, but waiting means an even better read later.

Love, your stories were part of what kept me going for two weeks while mom was fading away. Soulmate and Unspeakable are just special to me and I do reread quite often ony phone at night.
I can wait and very happy to hear about Mages.
I would adore to read your original works one day soon.
And your last post has got me to thinking and reevaluate my own writing. Why and how I write myself into corners. Think I figured it out or on my way to figuring it out

Eh well get it when we get it and it will be all the richer. You're an author I know will finish a fic. There are fics I still almost cry about because I know I'll never know how it should have ended. You'd think I'd be used to it after all the evil TV cancellations that leave me hanging (I'm looking at you quantum leap).

Who Hoo -- war mages!

Was 'No Other man' that oh so fun werewolf and the doctor fic? I loved that fic. Something to look forward to buying someday.

Thank you very much for letting us know what you are planning, even if it is only tentative. I had been curious about the Soulmate series and whether you were going to be updating so quickly in the future ( we were spoiled!), but I felt it was presumptuous of me to ask. I will eagerly read both series when you post them!

Excellent to know you're okay and what's in the pipeline. Like many others, I was relieved to hear that your starting to feel better after a wretched midwinter.

The War Mages news is epic! I wasn't expecting movement on that front for a while. It's funny - I keep bouncing back and forth between the Harry Potter and Star Trek fics, then read through the WMHB, SOA, and TTB verses, over and over, thinking each is my favorite until the I read the next. I will say that Declan and Sean are so much a part of my mental landscape that I expect to see Michael Weatherly in reruns of SGA.

Thanks for all your hard work in the face of "hypocrisy, porcous pomposity, greed, Lust, vulgarity, cruelty, trickery, sham, And all possible nitwittery" - to quote the inimitable Christopher Fry.

In regards to the posting schedule for HP&tSB - well, you had us spoiled, but shit happens. I'll be happy to see the parts whenever I see them. And...I'll be grateful. :)

Thanks so much!

I think I'll use this as an excuse to tell you that Unspeakable is my favorite of your stories. It's not just that I love the time travel stuff, or that your detailing the issues of a pair of grossly abused people working towards getting better (each in their own way)' though those are important. I think it is Jonah and Zale that really push this one into favorite status. They are both wonderful.

That said, War Mage for April? That's wonderful!!!!!!! Looking forward to it.

So happy to hear about the War Mages fic. I read the first part at least once a month. Will you be posting as you go, or after it's done?

Also wanted to say I loved your EAD HP stuff.

Also, question, if I may. Didn't get to ask a question in the minion section, but what name do you publish non-fanfic under? Did I understand correctly that you publish? Would love to buy something.

Squeee! War Mage trilogy for the win.

*fangirling over another 100k of Soulmate*

*makes grabby hands*

It is always a privilege and a pleasure and a fucking delight to beta for you...no matter how long it takes you to send it our way. A) because we know that the fanfic is your 'fun' work that you squeeze into a tremendously demanding professional and personal schedule, and B) It's *always* worth the wait.

Totally understand the need to rewrite later parts of a story because you jossed it with the edits to the first half of the story. I've done it more than once, lol.

I'm excited to hear the next part of the War Mages Trilogy is going to be your next Rough Trade project. Looking forward to it, and the rest of Soulbond, whenever you do get to posting it. :D

I kinda love the nugget of information that Soulmate Bond was first written a long time ago - because I can see the parallels in themes with your other work (not just the HP stuff).

I actually love the Rough Trade challenges, because it gives a glimpse of what the story looks like before it has gone through the lens of the beta process.

Besides, your work s always worth the wait!

I have been enjoying the Soulmate Bond but to hear there is hope for more of the War Mages trilogy makes me absolutely giddy with glee!!! It helps me to recover from the torture/ tease of EAD.

Loving you lots!!!! (In a completely platonic way, of course)

Whenever an author releases their work I'm always happy. Waiting sometimes is difficult, but it allows to re-read the previous part of the story and fall more in love with it.
Pushing to have a story now, now, now causes the author to spend time not related to writing the story this causes a delay, which makes everything come out slower. One statement saying you can't wait for the next part is okay, but emailing and harassing is so not okay.

Good to know that things are ok for your personally. Since I found your site you've hurt your foot (twice), had a gazillion colds/flu/virus/plague, and your coffee shop (temporarily) closed. As long as you're doing ok your minions can wait.

Question: will you be going back and making changes to some of the Soulmate bond chapters that were already posted? You did that with Sentinels and it was fun to try and spot the changes from memory.

How dare you ask us to chill out and wait?!

(Actually, I'm okay with waiting. Not that I don't look forward to you posting your writing, because I totally do, but I've done professional work as a copy editor, and I know how much time it takes to get the written word ready to be put out into the world. Besides, it makes it more of a surprise gift when I see you've posted something new, and I believe that gifts are usually pretty awesome, unless they're something odd and/or ugly your parents or relatives are trying to force upon you.)

I seriously want to hit the lotto so I could just pay you to write. However, since that hasn't happened yet, I am just happy that you write as much as you do. Sometimes my happy flailing is all the exercise I get for that day.

Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!! Give it to us when you get it to us, and we'll love it as per usual.

And thank you to your Betas for helping you pass these gems on to us. They Rock HARD as well!!!

It's like all my favorite authors - fanfic and not - that it's a treat when something new comes out. You have other commitments too and they come first. Would we love it if you put new stuff up all the time? Well yeah, but until we can afford to pay what you're worth, we should be happy for what we get.

But you are priceless, so that could be an issue. :)

This doesn't relate to this post exactly, but it is epic Harry Potter news. You've probably already heard but in an interview Rowling admitted that she should have paired Harry with Hermione in the end of the books. She claimed it was an indulgence on her part to pair Hermione with Ron. Suuurrree! She didn't apologize for Ron and Ginny, the fuckwits, but it is a start.
