Do I have to have seen the Hobbit films to understand the Hobbit fics please? I've only read the book!

I think I can answer this. Nope. I've read the book (a couple of times a LONG time ago) and seen all three movies. And none of these stories even remotely looks like the movie at all (and only is at passing glance anything like the book either).

First, Bilbo is female, so she is Belladonna (Bella). And all three story bits are SO DIFFERENT from each other, and yet, have amazing world building elements. Keira kinda took Middle Earth of the books and folded it origami like and came up with something wholly new (but with SOME characters that are recognizable, and some are... just better).

All three have romance (or romantic overtones) between Thorin Oakenshield and Belladonna Baggins.

So I don't think you really need to have seen the movies to enjoy the stories (and you really only need the most rudimentary knowledge of the book). That's my opinion, anyway. I enjoyed all three of them immensely.

Criminal Minds is on Netflix.

One thing I like to do when I write fan fic is craft it in such a way that you could read it as original fiction. I don't keep canon as a crutch and if I use canon elements, I hope I explain them in a way that you won't get confused.

It is difficult to pick a favorite. They are all so wonderful, and interesting. But I may have to go with the next bit of Ties That Bind, because for a fic I had a hard time starting (knowing I would need to be in the right frame of mind for it), it has become one I return to.

Although all the iterations of your female Bilbo are charming and very different from one another - but have themes that flow through the stories.

I enjoyed the Harry Potter bit. And the Inception bit makes me want to go re-watch the movie. I love EAD. It gave me so much to read during the blizzard we had here yesterday! Thanks so much for that!

EAD FTW! I love reading these snippets, and have gone back to prior EADs to reread them fairly regularly. While only having the start or snippet of a story can be frustrating, it is still wonderful to spend time in your universes.

So at first I was a bit concerned when I saw these fics, there is a lot of crap in the hobbit fandom I haven't actually found many good fics. After reading Blank Space and remembering how amazing you are I decided to take the plunge. After reading them all I now think we need to find out if any of your minions are scientists and get them to make either a cloning machine or equivalent to a time turner. I love them all I haven't read north star because your writing is so good that I get angry at all the idiots so I've decided to wait to read the broken road and north star when I can read the part were the morons realise how f***ed they are. It took me an hour to calm down after reading the excerpts of the broken road last year. I am now going to re-read them again. (Edit just went to like your facebook page and found some other excepts I haven't seen before Lord of magic and honour duel both were brilliant).

FYI, I don't know if you know this, but I believe LJ communities don't have a member limit. You are now big enough :D that you might consider creating yourself a community if you'd prefer staying on LJ instead of moving to FB. (ONTD, one of the larger communities on LJ, has over 100,000 members.) You'd still have total control over access.

First, I'd like to say Thank You! For posting these and all your fics. You make my world a better place. I adored Blank Space and the stargate excerpt pulled me right back into that world. Loved the plot twist you gave to the trial and yay! For the New York branch being shut down. The worst part about this EAD is not the unfinished fic. No, it's the hobbit fics. Gah! I'm sitting here staring at them trying not to click the fucking mouse. I don't have time for another fandom. And I know exactly what will happen. I'll read and fall in love with your fics. Which will then lead me to seek out and read the books, then I'll watch the movies, then I'll find myself sliding down that great big hobbit canyon of fan fic and won't surface again for six months and wanting to bleach my brain to rid myself of some of the truly awful fic I'll find my self reading. I need more self control. I need a Plan of attack before reading them....oh, what the hell. I didn't need those six months anyway. ;-)

Oh wow! The North Star trial scene was chock full of win. Loved the way the Courtesan Court swept in and took control in the interests of the de Sade submissives. What a brilliant plot twist. And I adored the reveal that Miko was playing yenta behind the scenes to get John and Rodney together! <3 omg. Miko FTW.

So satisfying when John finally let loose on Devereaux. :D

My favoritist bit was John pointing out that Rodney was undergoing coercion of a sort, and that was why John insisted on the one year reassessment, and then this awesomeness:

"Seduced, yes. Owned, no. You'll have to take for granted that I know the difference."

Spencer Reid grinned and propped his chin up on one hand as he stared at John. "Oh, Rodney, you lucky bastard."
