The fact is that I mostly buy ebooks these days but our house is loaded down with print books that we bought before we had devices for ebook reading because both my husband and I are both avid readers. He also has a serious hard-on for audio books. Nine times out of ten, he's listening to audio book on his mp3 player instead of actual music.

1. The 15th Edition of the Chicago Style Manual (because I'm currently editing an article for a magazine that is due next week)

2. Master/slave Relations: Handbook of Theory and Practice by Dr. Robert J. Rubel (because I'm considering scenarios for the next TTB story)

3. Killers: The Most Barbaric Murderers of Our Times by Nigel Cawthorne (professional project research)

4. He Shall Thunder in the Sky by Elizabeth Peters (because it's my favorite book in that series)

5. The Shelter of Stone by Jean Auel (because a new book in this series is coming out soon and I was brushing up on it so I could be prepared for the hardcore reading session I'll have on my Kindle when it comes out)

Is it possible? Have I actually found another A Song of Ice and Fire fan? Yay! But yeah, Jason Momoa is playing Khal Drogo and it is SUPER hot AND sexy! They'll probably play the episodes online and I think that they're going to put them on iTunes; I'm not entirely sure though. But, the show is going to be absolutely amazing. They did age some of the characters though, mainly Jon Snow, Robb, and Dany, they made them 17 I think, probably because it's one thing to read about a 14 year old girl being given to a man of indeterminate age (even though it's normal in their society) but it's another thing to actually see it, and since the boys are her age, I'm guessing they aged them too. But George R.R. Martin is one of the co-executive producers so he must have approved it. I can't wait!

Yes, yes, I actually approve the upward-aging, in this. I've seen the Sci-Fi Channel adaptation of Children of Dune, and they aged Ghanima and Leto II, of which I thought it really brought home to viewers some of the incestuousness that is inherent in their relationship.

So, yes I'm a fan of the book series, and in fact that just [http://optimouse.livejournal.com/13324.html] featured in my livejournal...

What calls you in 'Song of Ice and Fire'?

It's just such a compelling story. I started reading and before I knew i, I was half way through the first book. The world is so well thought out, especially the fact that one season can last for GENERATIONS is so amazing. And all the politics, intrigue, secrets, and just plain drama all mixed together with a side of fear of what's beyond the wall and across the sea and a sprinkle of fear for the coming winter is just such a heady mixture, and I just love it. And with that added supernatural element...just GOD, it's amazing. My favorite characters are Jon Snow, Dany and her dragons and her advisor Ser Jorah Mormont, the Starks and the dire wolves, Tyrion, and Khal Drogo; I just love all them, but I think Jon and Dany may be my favorite favorite characters.
