There are plenty of things that piss me off but nothing lately is more fucking annoying than the new goddamned Firefox. I have it installed on one of my computers but I refuse to upgrade on my laptop. The problem? I use my big computer twice as much as my lap AND Firefox until about five weeks ago was my "go to" browser.

I know I'm not the only one that is so furious with Firefox that I can barely breathe BUT to be for real they are really fucking messing with my ability to have any kind of goddamned fun with gaming.

I hate Internet Explorer as a rule and the new Google browser just isn't "enough" of a browser yet to take the kind of workload I put a browser through.

So, ya know, just fuck you Mozilla.

What's so terrible about it? I've been putting it off 'cause I've been capped.

I used Firefox for a long time, but about a year ago I went to Google Chrome. I really like it.

and I switched to Chrome, which is much faster.

I still have the old firefox... can you downgrade?

Also, do a virus/malware scan... when firefox slows, it can be that too.

I've heard a little about how horrible the new Firefox is, so I've been putting off updating it for as long as possible.
Have you tried to delete it from your computer and then download the earlier version? I managed to do that with Internet Explorer before I swore it off completely.

A lot of people have been having problems with add-ons with the new firefox. They've stopped working -- I've heard about the delicious and the LJ hook add-ons not working.

I refuse to get the new one. I hate how the tabs are over the address bar. (Plus, y'know, the add-ons)

One minor thing that bugged me badly about the new version is the fact that they changed the order of items in the menu that pops up when you right-click on a link. Fortunately, there's an easy fix for that with the Menu Editor add-on.

Have you tried Opera? I use it as well as Firefox, and it's only a smidge behind in preference.

I use Opera for most everything, Chrome when I need a seperate browser for some reason, and IE only when I absolutely have to. Firefox has always annoyed me but I don't remember why off the top of my head.

I would recommend Opera as a browser, I hate IE and I refuse to use Firefox. Opera is the one that induces the least anger fuelled rages for me.

I also use Opera. I think the speed dial factor of it is great. I also use google chrome when I need a second browser open. Another factor that I like with opera is that it has a turbo feature so if you are in an area when your internet speed drops (like I am between 3pm and 7pm. God darn school kids) you don't see the effect, your pages load at the same speed.

*sulks*

I miss my LJ add-on gizmo thingy. But I feel better knowing that you hate the new Firefox...it's not just me!

I had firefox up until about a week ago, when it had a shitfit at me when I updated it. I lost *everything*, and have promptly told it to shove it and have started to use IE. It's driving me crazy (I'd been using firefox for nearly a decade), but considering firefox won't even work for me anymore it's the next best thing.

I didn't realize other people were having problems with FF like I was. It is such a fucking pain right now. It constantly is freezing up. Suddenly I can't watch videos in the divx format, which is usually the better resolution offered from the sites I visit. I have dloaded that plugin so many times I can't count. And IT FUCKED WITH ZUMA ON FAcEBOOK so that now it stutters so bad I can't play it.
I actually like the new look.
if only it was an improvement. I had been thinking of downgrading

I thought I was the only one having issues. My husband(who swears by FF and did the upgrade without telling me)doesn't want me to use any other browser. (I hate sharing a computer)I've always used IE. That's what we have at work and I like it. I don't have any problems. Since I started using FF I've had nothing but problems. Since the upgrade I just want to beat my head on the desk. I remote into work twice a week and the stupid thing freezes on me constantly. It's extremely aggravating.

Okay, you've just explained why my laptop's speed has slowed to the speed of an arthritic snail. Yeah, I upgraded. I had Firefox on the laptop because of Netflix. Otherwise, I use Safari for PC (because the laptop is a Vaio) for all my surfing needs.

Now I just have to figure out how to get the new FF off my laptop and go back to the previous version. *grumbles*

Ah yes, freakin firefox. I prefer Chrome, but unfortunately my uni website doesn't support Chrome. It was either FF or Explorer. I hate explorer with a passion. I use BFF's printer because she gets ink for free, and the only browser she has is explorer. I use FF for school only. I downloaded the upgrade and thanks to all of you, I now know that my notebook isn't on it's last leg, it's just FF freezing all the damn time.

I think I'm gonna try Opera. I looked at it and it seems to have what I want in a browser, even moreso than chrome.

Opinions? REcommendations?

I haven't used Firefox for about a year, I use Iceweasel instead. It's basically like Firefox, but made by the Debian people instead of the Mozilla people, as they had a disagreement a couple of years ago. It's almost exactly like the old Firefox, just mostly the name which is different. I'm not really sure if it's installable on Windows, though....

For any potential linux debian users I can wholly recommend it (and Debian in general *cough*pimping-the-cause*cough* ;) )

Thanks for the heads up. I love FF, but the people in charge of their Beta teams is a moron. Basically I think you should never upgrade until a new version has at least 1 major patch.

I'll tell my IT guy not to upgrade.

I was gonna post a question on my lj asking what people thought of the new FF and should I upgrade. Don't have to now! Looks like I'll be looking into another browser.

disable plug-in container

If you go here http://goo.gl/738DJ and follow these instructions you can disable plug-in container which will help a lot. Now if we can only find the idiots that decided 4 was out of beta and give them an attitude adjustment with a 2x4 alongside the head, that would make me feel better.

They took a good browser and totally screwed it up all to hell trying to be more "google browser" like, if I wanted google browser I'd use it, but they never asked my opinion. Nobody ever asks my opinion which forces me to offer it on occasion.
