So, I'm pretty sure that sometime in the last ten months I asked someone to do a grammar beta for me for What Might Have Been. Unfortunately, I am unable to recall who that might have been.... the series is 260k so... ya know.

SIGH.

IF the person who agreed to do this could... comment let me know that'd be grand. LOL.

Hi!

No, I'm not the one you asked to beta for you. I am, however, willing to pinch hit for you if the original beta reader can't be located. Warning: while I generally have tons of spare time, I will be gone a few days early next week as I have jury duty in my hometown. I could most likely finish though since I have read your work before and tend to read fast. Let me know if you need a hand.

It's not so much the jury duty. I live in the middle of nowhere and my parents' house (we are in the process of moving; YAY!) is possibly considered to be in the middle of an internet black hole. I'm serious. They have DIAL-UP. And crappy dial-up at that. I don't even bother with attempting to access anything while there. So while I could finish it on my computer, I'd have to get back to the real world to send it back.

Also, three times is nothing. This is the second time I've had it and I'm 20. My dad has had it at least half a dozen times. Luckily the first time I was at college, but this time I'm still on summer break. I'm still trying to legitimize the fact that I clearly have too poor of moral character to qualify if I'm trying this hard to get out of it.

well, i served on a murder trial, so i use that as a 'get out of jail free card.'

Wow. That's... I have no idea what to call that. I'd say impressive, but murder is never cool. Also it sounds a bit scary. I'm 99% sure that this will not be a murder trial (if only because we come from a ridiculously small community and my dad would have mentioned it if someone in the area had been murdered). Mostly my dad gets the summons and then isn't called; he's only had to go in once or twice. Apparently I have a good number (82) so chances are against me being called in. Which would kind of suck if I drive six hours to get to my hometown for nothing. So... mixed feelings.

Murder 1, aggravated attempted murder 1 my first jury duty out of the gate. Also, we were sequestered during deliberations, though it was only for one night. When you say "get out of jail free," does that mean if I tell the next twit attorney who tries to draft me, I'm too pre-judged to serve? That almost makes it worth it.

you can tell the judge something along the lines of how being on a jury on a murder trial was intense and left lasting impressions, that the memories of the trial and your service would interfere with your ability to remain open and observant on this trial. etc.
and for me this would be very true.

Me, too, now that you mention it. (shudder) I'd just as soon never look at photographic evidence of a violent crime again, thanks.

It was not I, said the little red hen, but I would be happy to be your grammar nazi. I'll be back home tomorrow afternoon, hopefully BEFORE Tropical Storm Don hits the little town we chose for our vacation, and free to grammatically inspect your idiom, as it were.

Hey there!
Hmmm... I'm seeing Jack and Ianto a bit here.... any odds of either a Fic or either of the actor appearing in TTB or WMHB?

Love your writing as always!

T'was I, my dear. The offer's still open. I just didn't hear back from you after I sent in the first chapter/story/thing, so I thought you'd lost interest.

Wasn't me either, but I'm happy to help if you like - I love WMHB, have read it through at least 3 times to date, and I've been proofreading for so long I can't turn it off when I read for pleasure, so if you want to make use of that, I'd love to have the excuse to read through the series yet again. My tech writer job finishes tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of free time!

Obviously I wasn't the (now-known) volunteer, but I'd be happy to help any time.

I was not the original poster, but I have often thought about asking if you would like another pair of eyes for your series. I did "Time Heals" for CJ if that's any kind of reference. :-) Lemme know - I'd be delighted to have an excuse to dive into it all again.

I AM ON TO ALL HAVE YOU WHO HAVE POSTED

HAH!
You are all only volunteering because then you will get to read Keira's stuff FIRST and EARLY. Don't think the rest of us aren't on to this. because, you know, we'd be doing the same. if we could stand to do that. and had the experience. and the knowledge. oddly enough i have all that, too. i even took a college class on the math of grammar, altho i cant remember what is was called now. anyhoo, i would rather clean my toilet than do grammar now, so i will wait just like the rest.

now proofreading for content and logic, that i can do, but then i suspect most people can.

i take heart in knowing that if Keira is asking, she must have something for someone to look at. right?

...and you say this like it's a bad thing? LOL
I proof my own work at least three times before I turn it in. I can honestly say I'm a grammar nazi - so if anyone needs help give a shout.

I'm good with apostrophes, wrong words and story doctoring. I am completely oblivious to comma abuse, however, and have been known to end sentences with a preposition, though I felt filthy dirty afterward.

Since WMHB is already written and you've embarked on the follow up series, may I assume you're getting it ready for e-book publication?

Hello Keira,

That would be me actually. (I did the line by line beta for Lantean Legacy) If it's not too late I would be happy to!

Mmmmmmmm.......

Nothing like a little Janto to get the juices flowing in the morning. I ship Jack and Ianto like whoa!

And I just got back from Cardiff. It may be my favorite city ANYWERE, and that is leaving the whole Torchwood thing out of it. Highly recommended.

I can volunteer to help with the grammar, too. I have some experience both as a beta reader and I have done a little editing on technical reports. I find your stories are pretty clean, actually, though there are, of course, occasion typos/grammar issues. Would love to help.
