10 Things I Hate

I HATE...

1. Peppermint patties
2. The beach and anything involving getting in a body of water that doesn't have chlorine in it.
3. It's a Wonderful Life (movie)
4. 95% of the Beatles catalog
5. Horror movies
6. The SyFy Channel for canceling Farscape and for changing the spelling of their name because now I can't even take them seriously.
7. The fact that SyFy broadcasts wrestling
8. Whoever is responsible for the cancellation of Stargate: Atlantis
9. Locked fic entries on LJ though I do know why some people lock their LJ's down because fandom in general is full of sorry, no good, horrible bitches. (well maybe not FULL but it certainly feels like it sometimes)
10. The woman who lives down the street from me who drives the BMW. I don't hate her for the BMW because I don't even really like BMWs but I will say this. If you're going to drive a 50,000 dollar car then you need to DRIVE it and otherwise you need to park that shit in the driveway and let it look pretty instead.

I remember getting an email from SyFy channel when they were changing their name and they gave an explanation for it. All I remembered was translating their message in my head as "we are trying to get away from good programming because the reality crap and wrestling crap pays us more!!" I do remember them saying something about changing the name from SciFi as they were more than just Science fiction and the name was too restricting!

Which I took as a slap in the face, btw. I remember getting that email, too. The fuckers.

The most interesting reason I heard for the name change was mercenary - they couldn't trademark / copyright (never can remember which) "scifi", but they could "SyFy". Pffft - like there were hordes of people clamoring to buy their branded merchandise.

I really don't get the wrestling thing. I mean, since WHEN has wrestling had anything to do with science fiction, i mean, has ANYONE heard of a wrestling science fiction book, movie, tv show? Cause I haven't. But on another note, not all the reality shows they have now are utter crap. I actually really like the reality show Face Off, because I think it's interesting seeing the process of making special effects make up and it's really cool to see the transformations of the model into something completely different.
